Inspire enables users to find or create groups of students based on certain criteria available in the filter list. Filters appear in the application across Advanced Search, Groups, and Reports.
Note: Video shows old Inspire dashboard.
1. Navigate to "All Students" or "My Assigned Students"
Upon logging in, users can search for students by clicking 1) View Students in the Quick Actions tile on the Inspire dashboard or 2) clicking Students in the menu. Once on the student page, select whether you'd like to view "All Students" or "My Assigned Students" on the left-hand side of the screen.
Note: students listed in the “My Assigned Students” tab are students who have an advising relationship with you as designated in Banner. Some users may not have any assigned students. (View additional information about how to view, add, and update advising assignments.)
2. Use the Advanced Search to find distinct groups of student
To search for students based on selected criteria, select the blue "Advanced Search" option above the list of students.
1) Toggle between including all students in your search or limiting a search to students who are assigned to you.
Users can also filter based on 2) active student status 3) persistence prediction, and 4) change in persistence prediction.
Below the persistence information, several categories of filters are available to filter for distinct groups of students, including:
- Academic Information
- Demographics
- Progress to Degree
- Courses
- Enrollment
- Advising
- Academic Alerts
It is important to note that Inspire filters operate using “and” logic, meaning that students will only appear in the results if they meet ALL selected criteria. See full filter definitions below.
To include columns of information in your search without actually limiting the search criteria, simply check next to the general category option. When you have entered all search criteria, select the blue “search” button at the bottom of the screen.
3. Decide what to do with your list
Inspire will provide a list of students who have met the specified criteria. Above the student list, users then have the option to 1) create a group, 2) download the list, or 3) message the listed students.
