The following article explains the various ways a user can schedule an appointment. In each instance, once the appointment is scheduled it will: 


1. appear on your calendar

2. both you and the student will receive an email confirmation with appointment details

3. an advising note placeholder will be auto-generated


There are three main ways to schedule an individual appointment: 


1. From the student profile

2. From the Available Appointments view

3. From advising hours

4. From the Inspire dashboard


1. Scheduling an appointment from the student profile


Scheduling an appointment from the student profile may be easiest if you are already in the student profile. To schedule from here, you'll simply navigate to the following: 


1. Once on the student profile, click the "Schedule Appointment" quick action icon next to the Student Summary tab. 


2. After clicking Schedule Appointment, you will be taken to the Add Appointment page. From here, choose the following options: 


(1) Appointment Type. Select the "Schedule Ahead" option for the system to autopopulate the available appointments to select from after the next step. Select Drop-in to add a new appointment that is not based on available appointment slots. 


(2) Schedule using an open appointment slot. Select a date for the system to autopopulate available appointments for a given time frame.


(3) If using Schedule Ahead, select an available appointment from the autopopulated options. 



3. Below the selected appointment day/time, choose: 


(1) an appointment modality and associated location.


(2) A Session Topic for the appointment (note: this is required to schedule the appointment).


(3) An Intake Note (if desired) to remind you of any necessary details about the upcoming appointment (this is not visible to the student). 


(4) A Session Note to share any information with the student about this appointment. Examples of Session Notes might be reminders to bring items or information, or any context you might want the student to know ahead of time. 



Click Add Appointment to finish adding the appointment for the student. The appointment will appear on your calendar and both you and the student will receive an email confirmation with appointment details.




2. Scheduling an appointment from the Available Appointments view


If you have already set up your calendar and created appointment slots, you can schedule appointments from the available appointments tab on the calendar.


1. Go to Calendar and then the Available Appointments tab. 


Filter by appointment status to find available appointments slots and select a row to schedule. 



After choosing an appointment day/time for the student, simply search for the student by name or student ID to schedule them for that appointment. After choosing the student, follow steps 2 and 3 above in the "scheduling a student from the student profile" section. 



3. Scheduling an appointment from Advising Hours


An appointment can be scheduled by clicking an available advising slot from the Calendar view, then selecting the Schedule Appointment tab. 




From here, simply follow the detailed steps above to complete scheduling the appointment.


4. Scheduling an appointment from the Inspire dashboard


An appointment can be scheduled by clicking Schedule Appointment in the Quick Actions tile on the Inspire dashboard. 


From here, the appointment scheduling page will open and the detailed steps above can be completed to finalize the appointment.
