An Engagement Opportunity is a data-inspired insight that represents circumstances that have shown to be predictive (influential) of an undergraduate student’s likelihood to persist (or succeed), and where they may benefit from engaging with a supportive presence on campus, which is oftentimes an academic advisor.

Undergraduate students may be matched to one or more engagement opportunities if/when they match specific multiple factors via a set of criteria and they may provide advisors with contextual metrics so they can take action with supporting that student.

There are 7 pre-defined Engagement Opportunities in Inspire (not pictured below: "students with alerts from multiple faculty members"):

In looking at a student profile, advisors can see if an undergraduate student meets any of these engagement opportunities by navigating to the Engagement Opportunities tab. Note that you can see the date that the student was match to a specific engagement opportunity, along with contextual information about what it means to be match to that category.
